help with shareaza

hello,
i just installed shareaza a few days ago, but i can't seem to get it to work correctly. i have a T1 connection but it downloads like a 56k connection. i have zonealarm firewall active, does that have anything to do with it?
how can i make shareaza faster, given i have a fast internet connection?
thank you!

The speed at which download is not always the same speed that you CAN download at. I am also going to assume that you do not have 100% of the bandwidth of this t1 line (im sure its shared such as at a business or a university) therefore your speed is also limited by the available bandwisth of the entire system.

No p2p filesharing program can have predictable download or upload speeds. its just something you get used to.

More than likely, yes. You need to give Shareaza full permission to act as a server with ZA. You're also probably on a shared internet connection, right? On a LAN or behind a router or something? If so, you need to open up port 6346 on your firewall and/or router. BTW, you'll probably get more help at the official Shareaza forums. Unfortunately, the site is down ATM, but I'm sure it will be back up shortly.
Also, if you are on a LAN, or behind a router, then running ZA at the same time is pretty pointless.
