Shareaza removed from Download.com

What is going on with all these P2P clients either getting kicked off or quitting Download.com

I searched for Shareaza and nothing? WHY
I search for Gnucleus and nothing? WHY
I searched for Kazaa and nothing? WHY
LimeWire no longer links to Download.com
BearShare stopped linking to Download.com

What is going on?

I might be wrong but it 'might' be related to this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=31334

I dont think so, Gnucleus for sure did not get many downloads, and it never did link to CNET, same with Shareaza, it never linked to Download.com.

There is another reason, something is going on here.
Limewire and Bearshare are still on Download.com but dont link anymore,
Gnucleus and Shareaza have been removed TOTALLY

There is no conspiracy.

Both Gnucleus and shareaza use sourceforge.net mirror system, adding a dl.com link would be nonsense. Also they weren't up to date with the released versions number. Bearshare doesn't like the download.com philosophy and they delinked. LW.com servers are overloaded. Kazaa left because they were no more #1 download.

Only Morpheus uses dl.com with small 80k installers (easy to dl multiple times without stressing servers) so their downloads are exaggerated...

The download.com affair is ridiculous.

Zaggar December 22nd, 2004 02:04 PM

hahahahahahahah that is to funny that kazaa left coz they were no longer #1 hahahahahahahaha

And why does Bearshare not like Download.com?

et voilą December 22nd, 2004 02:11 PM

Because download brings no visibiliy to a P2P app except if you are in the top 5 downloads. Bearshare is well know and 99% who want to dl bearshare go to bearshare.com, not download.com . It can also be debated that going to a site like download.com might help your users test other p2p apps beside yours...

Anyway dl per week are irrelevent, what is relevent is the total number of simultaneous users or the installed base of an app. Download numbers can be so much trafficated.

Ciao

Oh really Et Voila, so because an 80K installer is used its exaggerated? So when Limewire use the installer system or something simular in there next major versions, i guess they will exaggerated there downloads?

Troll: of course you are right  Since this thread has been discovered by a troll, it'll be closed.

Zaggar: if you still have questions about dl.com, PM me.
