Help! After first 30 downloads now all I get is "File error"???

New (albeit super cheap freebie with purchase) mp3 player.

I'm brand new so don't assume anything is obvious but it's fairly straightforward.

I downloaded 30 or so songs - no problem.

Now, for the last few songs I've tried to download they play FINE on mediaplayer on the pc, but once loaded play the first maybe 15-45 seconds of a song then just QUIT "file error" it says.

That's all I get.

Fine on the pc - dies on the mp3 player.

Please help!

Is this a stupid question to wonder if el cheapo mp3 just has a "bad spot" on it? It's only half full but that's the only thing I can imagine.

Please advise???

Thanks!

Thanks for responding!

Yes, it played the first 30 songs perfectly - I felt so smart!

Then I tried to transfer from a CD I own and from then on - madness and anarchy.

I finally got fed up and formatted the entire thing.

I've reloaded maybe 10 songs and now, even the previously "unplayable" songs play perfectly.

I don't really know if that's the "fix" -- I'm still wondering if the memory (or whatever you call it on an mp3) is bad? I'll see what happens when I get roughly 30 songs reloaded on it.

Thanks again for the reply! I appreciate the input.

Thank you again - I appreciate your input and attention to this.

I was able to synch tracks directly from two other CD's without issue. I was suspecting that the CD in question was protected or something. Then I had issues with Shareaza songs and I knew there was more to it.

I ended up formating the entire mp3 and thus far previously "problem" songs are playing just fine. This leads me to believe it's the player - not the music.

I haven't reloaded to the point of 30+ songs so I don't know if it's a memory error that trips me up at that point or what. If I ever definitively solve the mystery I'll share what I learned.

Thanks again!
