Can't uninstall Shareaza - Not in Add/Remove Programs List

Hi,

I've been using Shareaza on my Windows ME machine (yes, I know, it's crap but I can't really upgrade) and recently ran into a bit of connection problems. Anyways, I thought I would uninstall and reinstall a fresh copy. The problem I'm having is that I can't uninstall it because a file is missing. Here's the error message:

File "C:Program Files\Shareaza\Uninstall\unins000.dat" does not exist. Cannot uninstall.

Another post indicated to 'Repair' Shareaza but that option is not available in Windows ME. In fact, Shareaza doesn't even come up in the list under Add/Remove Programs. At the moment I can't connect nor can I uninstall. In order to re-install, I have to uninstall first.

Thanks in advance.

Have a look in these two places:

Start menu -> All Programs -> Shareaza -> Uninstall.

If not there, navigate to the program folders on your hard disk drive. Find the Shareaza program folder, you should see an uninstaller inside this folder. :)

If that doesn't work. Remove the Shareaza folder. Clean the system up with these two utilities: Crap Cleaner, & also Microsoft Windows Install Clean Up

I had to actually delete the folder. Clicking uninstall in any way, shape, or form, would produce the error message. I reinstalled the 2.3.1 version for Windows ME and it works very well and connected instantly. I almost downloaded the fake Shareaza 5 or whatever until I realized that it's the gnutella one that's real!

Thanks for your help!

If you tried to install v2.4, It's clear that you ran into troubles, since it requires at least win2k...
And the error you got means that the uninstaller has been removed somehow.

That's probably what happened. I inadvertently upgraded to 2.4 and something got messed up because hey, it is Windows ME!

Yeah... v2.4.0.0 needs Win2k+. You should really try upgrading. Maybe a friend of you has still some unused version of Win2k laying around? ;) In any way, Win2k is more than 100 times better than WinME.
