Shareaza is now IE's default downloader????

Hey there,

I've run through the forums for a while now, and haven't found any answer to this (although I'll be the first to admit I may not have asked the right search question :o ).

Basically, I've just had to re-build my computer yesterday, so I just re-installed Shareaza, and now whenever I go to download an .exe file via IE (i.e. this morning I was downloading an .exe driver file from the manufacturer site for my new keyboard, and one for my new printer), Shareaza opened up as the default download program  .

I've hunted through the settings in Shareaza to find a way to dis-associate it from being the default down-loader for .exe's, but so far have been out of luck (I've looked through IE's settings as well).

I'll keep searching, but if anyone knows where this setting is (in Shareaza or IE), I'd really appreciate a heads up.

Thanks

P.S. I realize some answers could be, "un-install Shareaza", or "if it works, just use it as the default program", but we've tried other programs and found Shareaza to be the best for us, and I'm not the only one using this system, so we need to sort this out.

Heh heh - egg on my face

Well, don't I feel like a heel :o :o

I just get home, and take one more pass at the controls in Shareaza, and whadayaknow, there it was staring me in the face under the General>Web settings in the download manager menu.

Just had to uncheck the little box and problem solved.

The last time I installed Shareaza was 2 years ago and never had to do this.

oh well

Well, as there are some things that have changed, Shareaza includes now a dll file for IE integration. Firefox integration is possible with an additional Firefox plugin (see the Shareaza Wiki).

And away we go!

Hey OldDeath,

Thanks for the reply, and hopefully I worded my 'heh heh' reply correctly. I was certainly not picking on the program (so I hope it didn't come across that way). I was just smacking myself for missing the setting :bangh:.

Anyway, I've now been going through the settings a bit more, and can really see some of the cool changes, so I'm up and running, and will probably be tweaking this thing a hundred different ways just to see what it does ;).

Let the games begin... :D

Have a look at the Advanced Settings page of the Shareaza Wiki if you want to know what the different settings are for...

The function On Change Connection Speed to update setting when you set connection speed from the quick start wizard this function could be used from others parts of code in the future....

You can change it in settings.

hey I got a request for sharezza download for ie. how about security scanner?

OldDeath December 19th, 2013 02:58 AM

If you have a decent one it will scan new files on your computer automatically. If you don't, Shareaza allows you to use your scanners command line to scan new files automatically once they have finished downloading. Plz have a look at the Shareaza settings and see the manual of your anti virus application for more information on how to use it via command line.
