personally I wont DL a zip file chances are its a worm/virus I think the ones that has it are sites that put them there to stop people from downloading from LW they try to flood the gnutella network with viruses I wish there was a way to forward the worm/virus back to them give then a taste of there one medicine.

If you plan to use LimeWire, or any other Peer To Peer application, do not, and I mean do not, download any programs. Or any files that are zip, rar, or any other kind of compreesed format. You have a 99% chance to get malware. If your the lucky 1% the program you downloaded probably won't work.

I'm new to limewire and didn't realise this about zip files, thanks (patty80 is right, it is deceiving given the number of users that are sharing them - though I suppose that is part of the strategy)

Just to check - I did unzip one that I downloaded and ended up with 3 .exe files. I have since trashed the lot, but I am on a mac so I shouldn't have any problems anyway right? (as they are exe files, plus I didn't attempt to run them)
