I'm new here .. a quick search finds no mention of the following, so here's the warning: the pornsters are at it again : Fake files using win media 9 'stealth' upgrade ...and DMR with scripting to open windows etc in your browsers ..:

briefly:
The 1 par point is: win media upgrades 'by stealth' to ver 9 to include DRM. It's being widely exploited by the pornsters with 'fake' - i.e. incorrectly-named & bot-generated WMV - files. Net result can be 30 windows you didn't open & that you could end up with illegal and offensive material on your computer, - innocently. [the pornsters use commercial redirectors.. the material will still be around & the redirs will be active long after the original promoters are gone ..meaning *anything* is possible - including child porn & similar. ] In some countries, including my own (sad, stoopid lot, Govts.) it's simply illegal for it to be there. No excuse acceptable. You go to jail. Mac and windoze users are equally vulnerable. it's real.

Anyone who doesn't understand the above, please feel free to post and ask, - someone else will explain, or perhaps I'll get an email and elucidate .. (I just don't DO that on a first date ....


But: be warned, friends: the danger is real - and growing. I expect an explosion of this stuff.
