What are you talking about? Go to your bank and stop whatever transaction immediately. Then, go to www.limewire.com and download either the free version or the Pro version (around 20$ for download). They don't have adware/spyware.
That site is selling something that isn't theirs. As someone (I think et voilą) said, it's as if you just gave them free money: the software isn't theirs.

1) The basic version does say it has ad-ware in it.

2) It was a visa transaction, it's already gone - I called them up but they said I need to wait until a few days (probably before it REALLY clears I bet) before I can report it as fraud. That's my question, is it worth the effort.

3) I already have the free version now. I could choose to download the PRO version also. My point is, I did not in particular, want to buy a product as such. It was recommended so on that basis I chose to support and donate to limewire and the money went elsewhere. Call me thick whatever, but without being familiar with limewire it's seems pretty easy to be mistaken with a web page which practically is claiming to be part of the limewire community.

Put it another way, instead of me being ripped off you could also say the people directly involved with limewire were conned from this scammer.

Default fullsoftwaredownload.com is a SCAM BEWARE!!!

(I'm NOT sure if this post went through. It was stuck somehow when I submitted it. So, I am sending the 2nd time)

I ordered their program on March 13/08 and found out they are scams! Once I downloaded their program, I found out it was just a uTorrent which is a free program on the internet and I already had in my computer.
Check this out http://www.mininova.org/scammed. I asked for refund March 14/2008 (I have all correspondece and the forms submitted to them). They were suppose to only charge me $23 something dollars for membership and all of a sudden my bill was $64. I didn't realize there is also a part on their Disclaimer that $9.95 is NON refundable (this is also how they scam you if you ask for refund. They got you with the $9.95). They kept sending me a reply saying that CANNOT be refunded because it is over 7 days (also in their disclaimer). I sent another form on their site that I asked for refund the next day and I have record of it. Again they sent me a prompt reply CANNOT refund over 7 days. Finally I decided to call them up (1-888-846-9590 their number for billing). I talked to a rep her name is AZZA and said they will sell me 360 degrees P2P for half the price. I said I don't want to have anything to do with them and to give me FULL refund. She said she'll have to deduct $9.95 from whatever I pad for processing. BEWARE guys dealing with this company. I sent them links of sites claiming that they are FRAUD. I told them I will report them to the Card company. I will also post them all over the internet and also to Scambuster. We need to shut this guys down. JOIN ME! email me at ********** with the subject JOINING fullsoftwaredownload.com SCAM. This way your email doesn't go to junk folder. I appreciate it.

Wrong: the official LimeWire download page says exactly the opposite. There's no ad-ware bundled in the Basic version since now very long (all has been removed since version 2.9.8 which was the last one with bundled software).

There's only some text adds with a link displayed in the LimeWire window, and a dialog at startup proposing to buy the Pro version.
And the next release will no longer have the optional "LimeShop" tab (that displays within the LimeWire window only a static HTML page.) The Pro version guarantees that even these small items will be absent, and adds some more connectivity for faster searches and some more connectivity and speed for swarmed downloads. You may use the CA tools or Spybots&D or Ad-aware to remove completely LimeWire 2.9.8 before installing a new version of LimeWire. After the installation, neither SpybotS&D or Ad-Aware will complain about anything in LimeWire Basic 3.x or 4.x.

Note that Computer Associates will warn you about any LimeWire version or any other Gnutella or P2P program, because of the support of MAGNETs: LimeWire has a MAGNET URL handler, but this is NOT spyware or ad-ware as stated by Computer Associates. The CA database is outdated, bought from a company that ran out of business and has not maintained it to remove false alarms.

If you run Computer Associates' tool, it will remove the support for Magnets in LimeWire as well as BearShare or other P2P programs, because it detects the Magnet support falsely as "WinMX", and WinMX is effectively a spyware and adware by itself and is active you use your regular HTML browser or email agent for something else than P2P activities... This tool does not check the target handler for this MAGNET URL-scheme support. Also the tool bases its data on old LimeWire 2.9.8 Basic, and does not check for the current versions of LimeWire.

If you have had a bad experience in the past with LimeWire 2.9.8, try with at least a version 3.x or the current 4.x versions... You'll see the big difference in performance, and understand why LimeWire is now more than 60% of all Gnutella-compatible servents installed.

I paid http://www.mymusicinc.com $30 for a lifetime membership and was connected up with limewire. Unfortunately I did this several months ago. The money is no longer retrievable. I have contacted them to find out what gives. Has anyone dealt with them?

Smile Don't feel bad

I have been in the music business for 24 years and are well versed with the internet. Don't feel bad that you got scammed because I did as well.

File sharing of music is illegal. Take for example Kaaza. They are still in court trying to resolve issues. Record companies and the DOJ are sill busting people for sharing music.

Knowing this, and being a Kaaza and former Napster user for years, I searched the internet for P2P's that appeared "legal". That means they collect a fee that you believe they are going to pay ASCAP and BMI as music royalities. The site you signed up at as well as me led to you believe that the fees were paid and everything was legal. But we were taken. I did not realize till much later that Limewire is really no different than Kaaza regarding P2P. That you could download the program for free. I am as disappointed as you are becuae I need to be able to download a lot of songs for a radio station, and thinking I was doing the right thing got burned. It appears that the only real way to legally download is to pay for songs individually. Usually $1.00 a piece.

Default TV.org is a SCAM

While searching for something on Google I came across a listing for TV.org, telliong me that I could download missed episodes of televivion shows. It sounded good, but all it was was a list of download programs, all with ad/spyware, no less.

This an an off-shoot of filesharingcenter.com - beware.

Default scam

There's another scam site: mp3downloading.com

They list all the p2p as being "new" and their own for which you pay them to download.

Can Cyclocide block them out - or maybe a kindly hacker.....

Angry Scammed by "tv.org"

I was scammed by tv.org also, just like the guy who posted above. It really sickens me that I have basically given them $23.44 in exchange for a link to limewire. I have contacted BBC's watchdog to file a complaint with the company. I have also contacted the online bank the I used to pay, ClickBank. I was scammed once before, by mp3u.com, so I really should have known better!

They're everywhere! I did a Google search for movie downloads before realizing I could use LW without going through one of those sites. Ultimatemoviedownloads.com, Onemovieplace.com are two I visited and signed up for. DUHHHHHHH. One is giving me a $39.95 refund, the other has no refund policy and I lose $28.00.
Sorry state of affairs for the uninformed public.
