Ads for blocking p2p on gnutella site?

Whoever sold the following ad could probably sell anything, or has a great sense of humour.

"Block KaZaA, LimeWire
Terminate KaZaA, LimeWire, etc. Free trial of Akonix L7 gateway.
Low Cost vBulletin Host
PHP, Perl, mySQL, cPanel & more Starting at just $5.95 / Month

Ads by Google"

:D

backmann June 24th, 2003 08:46 PM

Very strange ads indeed. They are also advertising Kazaa gold.

Ugh, I just filtered out that ad. It should be gone within the next few hours.

"P2P with LimeWire Pro

That was quick and much better! Quite the company--they'll sell p2p sharing or blocking! :p

No, it was two different companies on that ad.

Ah. Just curious--if you don't mind--how is the gnutellaforums.com primarily funded? TIA

Another ad for also blocking gnutella?
btw--the google supplied (?) ads are much easier on the eyes.

browsing with Safari 1.0 on OS 10.2.6, I get the error "can't find host" for http://ads1.ad-flow.com/?DC=gnutella...&TARGET=_blank

What was the url of that "blocking gnutella" site?

stief July 5th, 2003 01:57 PM

took a while to get it to come up again.

Is that enough of the url or do you need the rest too? Google's algorithm is great, but does it extend to pro p2p choices? Wonder if they have filters to make sure birth control ads don't show up in a confessional?

Yes, I already filtered out that ad.

Yes, I've seen it load a lot of pro-P2P ads.

I noticed. I clicked on one for LimeWire, but it turned out to advertise a subscribe service that had logos of three other p2p software and no LimeWire.
I thought you'd filtered the block p2p one, but when it still showed up the next morning, I thought you'd want to know. Sorry for the bother.

Does it help the cause to click on the links?

All of the ads posted in this thread have been filtered out. Let me know if you see any more.

fabion March 11th, 2005 11:10 AM

Well it looks like the ads are back.

Hey Peerless yes I know this thread is over a year old.

But thought I might revive it now.

Anything that says free mp3's & movies is almost always a scam site. (The 1st ad is fine!)

http://www.usenext.com/index.cfm?pp_id=358357

http://www.kincan.com/freemovies.html

http://www.soulseekhq.com/

That's really strange b/c each time I come back to this thread there's different ads. The 1st time I saw it the ads were fine. But it seems to have reverted.

Lord of the Rings March 11th, 2005 01:04 PM

Oh now they've gone again.

stief March 11th, 2005 01:09 PM

FWIW, this thread continued by PM, and many more sites were blocked.

Supplementing the sites LOTR listed elsewhere,

p2pnet has links to lists on p2pForums and elsewhere http://p2pnet.net/story/4157

2pnet.net News Special:- The Center for Democracy and Technology thinks it’s time for the Federal Trade Commission to do something about scams sites that “deceptively”claim to offer legal music and video downloads.
Ironically, the p2pnet article triggers lots of these ads too, but another poster pointed out that these ads are a GOOD way to get rid of spammmers.

Smart p2per's who click the ads cost the spammers. Nice way to fine them ;)

Maybe CC can allow these ads only on a page that also warns people of the likelihood of misleading advertising.
