Are we paying too much for music?

Are you (comsumers) paying too much for music? (this includes CD's, concerts and anything else the industry has direct control over.) How much is music worth to you? Would you prefer to buy just songs, one at a time? Should music be like an auction, and you pay what you feel it is worth? Sound off about music prices, tell us how much your music should cost!

I'd pay a tenner for a CD. I download songs all the time and occasionally I find a new one that I like, so I order the CD. I must have ordered about 6 or 7 by now just because of Napster. (I just switch to Gnotella because of that inconceivably stupid ruling).

I'm not happy that £9.50 goes to people other than the artists though. I rather think the artists should make the £9.50 and the publishers make 50p. I believe that this is really going to change now there is essentially no copy control. I buy music on CD even though I have mp3s because of a) the quality b) the fact I actually own a tangible thing which has a box etc.

I mean, a stamp collection ain't a stamp collection if it's just jpegs, is it?
