Report Bugs/Issues in 1.21 & Possible Solutions

If you aren't using the latest version 1.21 then don't even bother posting a bug.

Below are some known issues people may still have and resolutions. Also try reading the FAQ we keep up to date - http://www.xolox.nl/client/support/faq.html

Known Errors/Bugs and Solutions - See bottom of this post for what info to include when reporting a bug/problem.

1) get Error message: 'Unhandled exception EConvertError Exception message:''173446 or 10:04:22 p '' is not a valid time call stack' or similar?
A. You will need to change your regional settings in Windows for the display of time.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Regional Settings > General > 'Time' Tab. (in wXP click on the 'customize' button)
Make sure the AM and PM symbols are set to AM / PM and NOT a.m./p.m or anything other then AM/PM. If you already have the regional setting to English / U.S. this is likely not needed.

2). I installed XoloX, but it freezes at startup or doesn't function properly ?
A1. Update to the latest version 1.21.
A2. CursorXP and other 3rd party Cursor Pointers are known to cause XoloX to crash, if this is the case Uninstall CursorXP and your problems should be solved.

4) "SocketDataAvailable" errors
A. Try setting setting your local IP and port XoloX should use in Tools > Preferences > Network Tab - Advanced button. Then allow permission and/or forwarding through that port.
A2. If using wXP try disabling the wXP internal firewall(or configure it properly).
A3. If using Zone Alarm please also note that a setting of 'Medium' level security for trust zone works well in tests even along with a router; but connecting to the network takes an average 5 times longer to find servants you can connect in relation to having no firewall at all
A4. wME is likely the OS you are using with this error, change to a more stable Windows operating system :P

5). My download hangs on 99% or 100% and is does not seem to finish?
A. XoloX is working on the last segment and a connection may be lost or segment corrupt. A new host is needed and that may take some time. Look at the status of the download (number of hosts in buffer, attempting contact etc.) and you'll notice Xolox is trying. Give it some time to finish. Note: All completed transfers remain showing as 100% done and is not the question being addressed here. If the 'download status' shows as 'finished' then it is complete.
A2. If you an anti-virus such as Norton running disable it while downloading. The reason the file can't complete is because Norton in scanning the partial files won't release them as XoloX attempts to create the single file from the multiple partials.

Feel free to add your input - the more we know about problems you are having in addition to bug reporting , the easier we can remedy them.
When reporting a bug :
- Give as much system info as you can: operating system, ram, cpu speed, etc. including your connection type.
- If you can reproduce the error then how and give as much detail as possible ***
- If you are using a firewall and type of anti-virus.
Any other relavant info.

thanks - KayaMan

Error when searching or trying to download

I am running winXP on a pIII 866MgH with 128 MB RAM
56K connection
Norton AntiVirus
no firewall, not even the built in firewall

I am having problems with searches, even when trying to search for something as obvious as a Prince mp3, I am having difficulty finding anything. When I do find something and try to download it, the program will crash within a minute of starting the download. I keep getting the same error, which is listed below. This is not fun. :(

Re: Error when searching or trying to download

I'm having the same problem. I don't have the local firewall on, I did change the Network settings as explained in the FAQ and I've installed the latest build. Same old crap.

My sys:

Dell Inspiron 8100
WinXP Pro w/all Patches
500 MB RAM
PIII-M 1.3GHz
60GB HD
3Com NIC

Here's the dump:

While that works for some.. it may not for all. I am *thinking* I might as well add it to the FAQ now with other tips that also work for other problems. These things go way back to 1.12 of xolox.

In getting the "socketdata" error OR startup errors after using XoloX , another thing besides purging the registry as noted here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=12955
.... is to also delete the resume text file in the directory xolox was installed in. While this will cause your resume info to be lost, it is another possible solution for those that get startup problems( EaccessViolations) after being able to use XoloX initially without a problem and then having it crash on startup. Perhaps i'll add a few more *possible* solutions to problems as mere suggestions in the FAQ.

note : save the resume file text in another folder and replace it afterwards manually to resume your files. By deleting the resumeinfo.txt you will lose all your partial downloads ( unless you save it in another folder or rename it )

See the post by 'theSeeker' that explains you how to fix a corrupted resumefile.txt which WILL cause EaccessVoliations and other start up errors if this was to happen to you.

It may be your system or connection - just to test I just ran a search for Ozzy on XoloX (Version 1.2) just now and got 988 hits.

Bugs

Your software seems to work well except for:

1-lots of unavailable downloads listed in the search results.

2-The "window" controls do not operate properly. Xolox will not remember the last size or type of window used. It comes up full screen every time. When you switch to window mode it is still full screen and the window size adjust availability is erratic. Sometimes the little triangle appears, sometimes not, sometimes you can move the mouse and click/drag there anyway, sometimes not. I do not have these problems with any of the many other programs I run.

3-Search history function in the does not seem to work properly. Even tho it is enabled I always have a clean slate.

The program downloaded and installed smoothly.

I don't know if anyone else gets this error but every time I start Xolox I get some sort of error that tells me that the script didn't work and gives me the option of yes or no to continue running scripts on Xolox, anyone else experience this?

Bug Fix - RE: error mssgs after install version 121 &122

As soon as I installed v121 (and later v122) I would get the following error mssg when I tried to open the program:

Version: '1.22 build 260'
Error message: 'HMODULE: 4194304 Unhandled exception EOleException Exception message:The requested resource is in use Call stack: '

Previous version had worked fine, except for the occfassional hang. Cleaning the registry and re-installing didn't help. Luckily, I stumbled accross the fix thanks to a few references here at this forum to firewalls. (I use Tiny Personal Firewall)

The Fix was to go into my firewall settings and delete the two xolox references (in & out). Then when I opened the program, the firewall asked permission to connect. I selected create appropriate rule and don't ask me again, and now xolox is working great! Seems very stable. Hope this helps some of you.

Good luck all! Thanks for a great program, xolox team!
