not down loading I would like to know why I can;t get anything to download. I have zonealarm installed but disabled |
What version are you using? if 1.19 then upgrade to 1.20 |
Why are we forced to update? It's the usual mp3 sharing money making **** this program isn't any different is it... I was using 1.19 before and it went good... could STOP downloading search results which was good... had more control over what was being downloaded etc, but now with 1.20 someone decided to DOWNGRADE the features. Not only that has anyone noticed that with 1.20 now your modem lights or broadband network connection lights flash like crazy even when your not even downloading anything. What exactly is Xolox uploading and downloading to your system now? It's definately not a little idle to keep you connected... it's like a full on download occuring... interesting stuff. |
I am using vs1.20. I can't seem to get the search to stop and download to start |

This a person to person shareware system. When it is running and you do not have anything downloading yet it is active, it is because it is uploading files which you agreed to share with others. That is what is happening. I checked my comp all the time for unwanted crap that was "dumped" on me and it has never happen from XoloX, unlike what happen when I used other shareware programs that are out there. |
how can it be uploading when u have nothing downloaded to shar4e to the uploaders |
Read the information when you start XoloX and you will find that you have marked a folder that people can upload from. It is not going to be your XoloX folder but a album, video, or photo folder. This what is being used to upload to others. If you have stuff you do not wish to be uploaded then move it. If you do not wish to share file but only take them then you might want to rethink using this program all together. Sharing files is what makes this program work for all. Not being selfish and only taking for yourself. Please, share your files for others. ***Guess now I am going to get trashed by someone who can't handle the truth or not able to accept an opposing opinion*** |
also, just because you dont have any files to share doesnt mean people still wont have to check you. all the blinky lights your seeing is just people on the network getting a list of the files (or no list but they have to check to find that out) from you. matrixquark oddity of the internet |
I can accept an opposing, can u accept that your program doesn't work |
That is odd because I an get mine to work on demand. TO say your program is also incorrect. I have nothing to do with with the program other than being a user of it. What I pass on here is from experiance with such programs(lots of experiance). I am just a real big fan of this service. The program does work and works well for myself. I honestly think that the problem most have is the fact that they fail to read the included information or leave the security up to high for programs such as this to work. |
sorry, but I'll pass Just thought I'd jump in and say I gave XoloX a chance for a long time now. I used to like it, but with the recent changes, I have decided to go back to WinMX and Kazaa Lite. Both have multi-source downloading now and they have become very popular so there's lots to find using them. Besides, both these programs have much more user control than XoloX. Which is designed for simplicity I guess. (idiot proof is more like it) I feel that people are smarter than you guys give them credit for and you need make your software more usable. This 'simple' crap just don't cut it. You should take a look at programs like WinMX and Kazaa Lite for some inspiration. No insult intended, but face facts, if people don't like it they won't use it. |
thypentacle: You've got to be kidding me, winMX is one of the worst p2p apps around. Unless you trade with someone or wait DAYS on a queue.. good luck getting a file from another winMX user. winMX users leech off other opennap protocol clients. As for kazaa-lite ( hacked kazaa) , the results you get come no where close to the selection available on gnutella. My recommendation for you if you want a less "simple" program then try Gnucleus. And the 'smarter then we give them credit for' comment, XoloX *intended* to be simple. While I agree XoloX can use more features ( which will as it progresses) , I really think you are judging the intention wrong. I could just as easily say the *smarter* users use XoloX because they don't need to spend hours tweaking a program. |
WinMX I have tried them all and WinMX (version 3.22) is still the best for me. I hit download speeds of 10-27k a sec on a regular basis and that's fast enough for me. At this very moment I'm downloading two movies and a pc game with a total current download speed of 32k a sec and I'm not in a que for any of them. :o) As for the tweaking, I haven't tweaked WinMX at all, it worked right from the start with no changes. It is true though that WinMX is full of leechers, I really hate that, so it does need a feature to disable sharing with users that don't share. I don't think XoloX has that, does it? To my knowledge LimeWire is the only one that offers that, but that's the only good thing about that POS software. Like I said, XoloX is OK, but it's far from being ready in my opinion. I am thankful for what I was able to download when it used to work though. I think WinMX is my only good option and it seems to be working very well for me at this point. I don't even have to use the extra servers options. The WinMX peer network alone has a lot to offer. Being put in a que can suck at times, but 25% of the time, if you're nice, and message the person your trying to download from if they could start your transfer they will start you up ahead of everyone else, but only if you yourself are sharing as well. :o) As for Kazaa Lite, it's very handy to find rare software or movies, but the download speeds really suck ***. However, they do complete eventually. Nuff said. |
I do not understand why all these people are having trouble getting a download to complete. I have never had this problem. IT sounds like some people are just too impatience to wait on the download to complete. |
