bandwidth issue

I recently installed xolox version 1.32.

Does anybody know if there is a way to change the bandwidth settings, say if I was previously using a 56k and now I'm on dsl. I look under preferences but couldn't find an option to change the setting. I wonder if the connection bandwidth is detected automatically. I assume it's not because I'm downloading with the same speed now that I'm using dsl and it's pretty slow.

any input would be appreciated

XoloX automaticly detects your internet connection speed, but you might want to go to tools>preferences>network and see what the upload speed is set at. the download speed is all ralative to your download speed i.e if you have upload speed at 1 or 2 kb your download speed will be much less than with the upload speed at max. on the otherhand it could just be bad luck. Remember to check how many scores a file has before you download it(higher the score the better the chance of it downloading and at a faster speed).

Thanks snoopy.
It's kinda weird because I had already tried that, choosing a higher upload speed, and even checked the maximum check box, but it didn't make a difference. I know when I originally installed xolox, the setup process asked for information about my connection "low" or "high bandwidth" and I originally chose the low setting for my 56K. I know in BearShare under the Setup-Sharing preferences there is a connection tab that allows one to change the Network Interface speed between modem, broadband, high speed, and Xolox doesn't seem to have this or I can't find it. I unistalled Xolox and re-installed it so that it would let me change my bandwith selection in the installation process but it skips that option now as if it remembers that I had a low bandwidth selection on my original installation.
So I tried this. I freshly installed Xolox on a second computer connected to my DSL network, since this computer had never seen xolox it gave me the option to chose a bandwidth setting, I choose high speed and now I'm downloading at lightning speeds in this second computer but my laptop, computer #1, is still downloading at freakin .5K.
I have to figure out how to remove all references of Xolox on my laptop so that I can re-install it and get the option to choose high speed during setup. GO FIGURE.

mmmm thats odd, ohwell do completely delete xolox so you can do a fresh install do this start>settings>control panel>add/delete programs, choose xolox click uninstall then go to start then run and type in regedit then the registry editor will come up. go to Hkey_current_user>software>xolox and delete the xolox folder(known as a key) then close registry editor and install xolox again. :)

I was missing the step to edit the registry. I did what you said and the problem is solved, Thanks snoopy.
