bug: shared directory doesn't work

Is it just me or what?

I can't get Xolox to share any directory other than the default /xolox/downloads/. Even in this directory, it doesn't share sub directories.

I really want to share my files, but I can't keep all the files in one flat directory.

Please fix this asap. I really like this software and I want to keep using it.

Ok...

Being that this is the first time I've heard of this, lets start with the basics.

What version of XoloX are you using? Is this the first installation, or have you upgraded from a prior version?

What are your system specs? CPU, RAM, free HDD space, OS, OS permissions (NT/2K/XP) etc. Anything which you think might be useful.

Some trouble shooting steps to try before asking more questions:

If you are running 1.03 or ealier, or have upgraded from 1.03 or ealier: Uninstall XoloX (Control panel -> add/remove programs), delete it's directory, (c:\program files\xolox by default), and remove it's registry entry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\xolox" (start -> run -> regedit)

If you are not currently running 1.12 download it here. (Also do this of you remove your current version, obviously.)

If you upgraded XoloX automatically to 1.12 from an earlier version, try deleting the above mentioned registry key, and also templist.txt from your xolox directory.

I am running 1.12. I uninstalled it just now and made sure the registry key and the xolox directory were deleted. I reinstalled it, same problem.

I noticed one more problem. I have 2 shared directories. F:\share\ and e:\mp3. Both directories are listed twice in the Preferences/Sharing tab, ie, 4 shared dir in total like below:

F:\share\
E:\mp3\
F:\share\
E:\mp3\

Also, in the box below where it says "Share only files with these ext", each extension is listed twice as well.

Both drives E & F are local harddisks. I installed Xolox at F:\xolox\ to reduce copying files around.

When I switch to the Files windows, no files are shown. There are files in the shared directories and in their sub directories.

My system:
Abit KT7 motherboad
Athlon 1.2 GHz CPU
512 MB RAM
Two 45GB harddisks (IBM Deskstar) With lots of free space.

I am running Windows 2000 Pro, with ALL the latest patches.

I can email you some screen shots if I have your email address.

As I said before, Xolox is the best guntella client I have tried so far. I really want to keep using it, but it sucks when I can't share my files and become a freeloader.

Thanks!

Hmm, ok.

The doubling of the registry key entries has happened to me (up to quadruple actually) and I think it might have to do with the preferences window not being destroyed on close bug, though more testign is needed... If you see these multiples, I suggest deleting the copies. (yeah, I know, deleting the copies of the shared file extentions can be very tedious.)

As to your problem of not seeing your shared files.... do you have "My shares visible" checked in the Tools menu? By default it's unchecked, and the only fiels you would see on the "Files" page are files you have downloaded.

arhhh, silly me.

Guess my files are shared. Thx.

I also have a problem that after leaving Xolox running for a long time, when I try to click on the menu bar, I get a Access Violation instead of a drop down menu. Is this a known bug?
