Unhappy ZoneAlarm/Xolox conflict

It seems that there's a major memory leak, with miscellaneous error messages (invalid resource hook, memory extremely low, etc.) when ZoneAlarm v. 2.6 and Xolox 1.12 run concurrently on Win98. If I can't kill either one quickly enough, the system freezes so solidly that it requires a reboot.

Any suggestions, other than leaving my firewall off?

You can switch to a different firewall. Sygate personal firewall works allright and you can download it from CNET (download.com). NOTE: if you are using ZoneAlarm and want to uninstall it, visit its website for detailed uninstallation instructions. Don't just use add/remove program. Otherwise, you could crash your computer.

I had the same problem: xolox+zonealarm 2.6.x resulted in very low system resources.

I switched to tiny firewall 2.0.14 and the problem with low system resources disappeared.

Question Zonalarm Partial Solution??

Hi,
Think I found a partial solution to this problem... If one puts zonealarm in Medium Internet Security, the problem is virtually gone. This "fix" is documented in the ZA support documentation.
I say virtually gone, because Xolox does seem to have problems with network hiccups. System resources are slowly depleting when the gnutella network runs less than optimal...

Default "Medium" security in ZoneAlarm 2.6.357 still generates Xolox error

Medium security setting does seem to resolve the resource leak. But after two updates to ZoneAlarm, I'm still getting
"Exception EInvalid Pointer in module XOLOX.EXE at 000027FC. Invalid pointer operation." when I attempt to close the program.

Suggestions?
