Losing Partial Downloads

I lost a partial download, while download a file.
The download was nearly finished (aprox 98%) when suddenly my harddisk started working fulltime. Thinking the download finished i looked at xolox again and saw my progress had been reset to 85%. When checking the temp folder i saw only two segments a large one (aprox. 590 Mb) and a small one (aprox. some 700 Kb).
Just some 15 minutes before i had two large segments (aprox. 590 Mb and 200 Mb).

Anyone any ideas???

For the rest, it's a great program!!!

Partials have been dropped, because they don't match to each other. You see a message in the bottom line of Xolox, whenever this happens.

To bad it found out after downloading 200 Mb, isn't there a way to optimize this?

btw. It's still a great program

Not really.

Since XoloX starts downloading from the beginning and ending of the file at the same time, there is no way to tell if the ending will match the beginning. If you get a corrupted file at the end then you will only resume from the same corrupted file, which leads to huge segments coming together and not matching up.

With crc or some other file hash meta-data this could be avoided, but currently, using only file size, this is only marginally avoidable...

Since you're downloading a movie, or ISO... look in yoru resumeinfo.txt and look for the file name that shows up most often in the HOSTS sections of that JOB and use it in the search terms section of the JOB. Using an exact, or nearly exact, name to search with will reduce your hits, but you will most likely get many fewer bad segments.
