Any body else having problems downloading

I have a Dell laptop with windows 2000 professional, and I dont have any problem connecting to server, but when I double click an item to download, it goes to the transfers folder, and there will be around 6 or 7 active downloads but the files dont transfer to my computer at all. Any suggestions? Thanks
