building index

my box is spending 50 seconds out of every minute building and rebuilding an index in the shares pane. virus scan shows nothing. I'm running xp, 384 ram, cleron 500. If I let it run for 1/2 hour it locks up. is it xolox or xp? Cpu usage goes to 100% no other programs running, no downloading just sharing. I really don't want to have to stop sharing 24/7 but i'm getting tired of having to reboot. thanks for any help you can give.

what the hell is going I can't even delet xolox. I was going to delete and reinstall. uninstall doesn't work either. Do I have to fdisk and reformat to get rid of it?

Dumb question.

Just wondering, what versions of the software are you all using? Did you get the software from download.com?

As far as I know, any changes in any files or folders (moving, renaming, deleting, etc) causes the program to re-index pre-1.12, and in earlier versions also spawned a thread for every shared (sub)folder on yoru machine.

If you are using 1.12, did you somehow manage to get your /temp or /xolox directories shared? Are you sharing whole hard drives? Organizing your shared folders?

I really don't know what to tel you if none of those are true...

"Do I have to fdisk and reformat to get rid of it?"
That's the most stupid question I heard this week :)

PS: If you have serious problems, tell us what happened after uninstall.
