Gets stuck with 6 host left to try

I am having a problem with Xolox, It get stuck with 6 hosts left to try. I am using zonealarm, but never had a problem. I had to keep it off all week because I am on a university network, and they shut me down.

Solution to six host stick

I got this problem too. the fix is very simple.
When it gets stuck at 6 hosts it should (after a while)
give you a network connection error and ask if you want
to change your network settings. The reason it does this
is that you have a bunch of files all searching or trying to connect
and it is bogging down your bandwidth.

Go to the transfers screen.
Pause all your downloads.
wait untill the text on the bottom of Xolox says network ok.
then you can unpause all your downloads.

To garuntee a network connection every time.
Its easyest to pause all of them just before you exit Xolox

Or the probem could be that all but maybe 1 or 2 of the built-in IPs are no longer valid, and limewire's cache is down (one of the still good ones)

The easiest solution I know is to open yoru preferences and type public.bearshare.net where it says 'host' and 6436 where it says 'port' then click add.

6 hosts left

I have just downloaded xolox and have as yet been unable to make a connection.

I too get the '6 hosts' and "Do I want to reconfigure network settings" messages.

I am behind a proxy (cable modem ISP), but the setup seemed to detect the settings OK, and Bearshare works fine.

Looks like I'm stuck with bearshare for the moment

6 hosts left

Further to last post, I just tried insisting on 'No Proxy Server' and lo and behold, a network connection.

TOo soon to know if downloads will work, but at least there's something out there.
