Connection problem

I am living at a university dorm with a t1 connection- I can't seem to get connected at all. How could I get connected? I am new at this. Thanks

can you use anyother p2p clients?
Are you behind a firewall?

I attend a university that uses at least a t-1 and i connect via ethernet. I dont have any problems connecting.

I am not sure if Iam behind a firewall or not- but I checked my external and internal ip's and they were all the same. I tried bearshare and lime- still no results. Can't connect to a host at all. For xolox- all I need to do is start it up to let it connect right??

thats the way mine works, i just installed it and it connects. but i think that you might want to find out who your network administrator is and visit with them. it sounds to me like you are behind a firewall of some sort, and that they are not letting you connect.

do you have trouble running other programs. ie msn or yahoo instant messanger, microsoft internet explorer or netscape?

anyone else have any ideas?
