why are downloads so slow

Why are my downloads so slow sometimes takes up to 12hrs to download a file of only 2 or 3 meg.

Can someone please help and tell me what I'm dowing wrong.

The person you were downloading the file from probably had a slow connection. Your download speed depends on the upload speed of the person you're downloading the file from.

Also try setting your speed from to max on the tools/preferences/network: upload speed.
