Iso file with .exe?

I hope someone can help me. I downloaded a file that was said to be an ISO file. But it has a file extension that is iso.exe. I tried running it like an executable file, but just got a blank ms-dos window and then nothing. the details of the file said to rename it and then burn it to disc like a normal iso file. i have winiso and fireburner but do not know how to use this file with either one. could someone please help me with this. Thank-You very much.

Can you tell me the complete name of the file?

Rename it to just .iso (delete the .exe) and then try it. People add .exe extensions so they show up in a search for apps (where .iso files are usually ignored).

Then, download either Roxio Easy CD Creator or Nero Burning Rom and burn it with one of those.

when you say rename it, do you mean just right click in windows explorer with it highlighted? i tried that and then when i opened nero and went to drag it over it still said name iso.exe. i don't get it.

Don't mention explicit names please

R-click the file, choose rename , delete the .exe part, hit enter, job done

Sometimes these kind of files are viruses. For example, if you see photo.jpg.vbs, the extension that counts is the vbs, and not the jpg.
