Can't view .avi movie files with Quicktime. Help!

I am a new limewire user. When I try to open movie files (.avi) with Quicktime v6.4 they appear blank. What do I need to do? Thanks

Salut, I suppose your are on a mac (using quicktime...) if you are under osx get vlc or mplayer @ macupdate.com or @ versiontracker.com, if under os 9 there are maybe codecs but I think you are out of luck.
