dvd downloading help

I need some help...I can download and view music videos, but for some reason I cannot view the dvd movies I've downloaded. Everytime I try to view quicktime (6.5) give me the error message that it cannot or doesn't support file. So, I tried using windows media player 9 and I get the same message. Do I need 6.5 pro???

Quicktime cannot read some of the file extensions. I'm not sure what they are because I dont use it. Most media players can read .mpg, .avi, .mpeg and so on. Try downloading that DVD in a formatt that Qucktime supports.

dvd downloading help...

Thanks deepblue...I don't understand it...I've only downloaded files that I know quicktime supports.... mpg, mpeg, avi, etc. but still haven't had any luck...this is even stranger...just downloaded a music video...file ext. mpg and quicktime opened the file and played. I've been searching the FAQ section for help, but again...no luck

You could try to reinstall Quicktime again. If that doesent solve your problems I don't know what will. Good luck.

You need the right codecs:

For Macs I have only this link:

Hiya...

1st, no need to make multiple posts...
Your original post is now also in this Tips & Tricks Forum...

You need to give the people here information on
your computer type
Operating System
types of CD-ROM drive(s) you have (CD/R or CD/RW)
the type of 'burning' software you are using

That is only for 'starters'... Probably need other info later.

Many others will probably respond to this, so I will only say that what you MUST do first is STOP trying to Download and Rip and Burn until you have studied, practiced and learned how to manage the files on your computer !!!
Almost everything that you need to do in order to rip or burn files is based and dependent on copying and/or moving Folders and Files.

This is not a 'scolding' now from me... It is the best possible advice unless you are crazy and really enjoy building a collection of dead/unusable CDs !!! Coaster making is expensive and boring !
