I have a stupid question

I am brand new to Limewire/ and file sharing for that matter. I want to download movies, Dumb question number one is? I need DVD-R/DVDRW blank CD's to do this right?? I'm sorry but I really have no idea. I can't download a movie to a digital audio CD used for like MP3 downloads can I, because I've tried that and it doesn't work. Also, what should the file end with in a Movie format so that I can download it and put it in my DVD player that is hooked up to my TV?? .Avi,, files??? I also have a selection in my buring software through Iomega, to burn it either as a MP3/ or WMA file. What is a WMA file? and is this the one that I choose. I don't have anything in my Burning software that says DVD burn or something as easy as that. But the software does say that I can burn as DVD on it, but I don't know how to do it.

Sorry for the 1st grade questions..

You mean you tried to burn them on a disk? You can also burn them on a normal disk but you canīt view them on a DVD player. For example you can save a .avi to your disk but you can only view it on your computer.

It depends on your DVD player. Look in your description which file formats are supported (for example SVCD), as far as I know .avi arenīt supported by none DVD player. The only solution to look such file on TV is to buy a TV card and connect your computer to your TV.

MP3 and WMA are file formats for songs not for films. WMA means Windows Media Audio.

I believe you need special DVD burning software (I have no DVD burner). Btw do you have a DVD burner without it its impossible to burn a DVD. A normal burner is not enough.

thanks for the reply

So, maybe I am trying to do something that I can't even do...?
I don't have a DVD Burner. Just a regular burner, do download and burn MP3's which I do all the time. If I download a movie, to my computer without a dvd burner I cannot burn that movie to a dvd?? Sounds like an easy question but I don't know. I thought all you needed a DVD burner for was if you were to go to like blockbuster, rent a DVD and then copy/burn it?? NO? About the disks themselves.... Any blank CD-R/CDRW will be able to burn onto a DVD with appropriate software?? like that which would come with a DVD burner..? There are no special CD's that are used for DVD burning right??

Thanks for you input.

No, you need DVD-R/DVDRW. They have a size of 4.7 Gigabyte, a normal disk has between 650 - 700 Mb...
