I spent the afternoon researching topic threads related to the avi file formats and was unable to come up with a suitable answer to my question.

Is there a site where you can just download the codes needed to view AVI files? I have no cd burner (but have a cd drive) on my system and the download packs make it sould like it's needed.

I am operating Windows XP, Limewire version 4.2 Pro, and have a DSL connection. The error message I get when attempting to play the files on Windows Media Player is something like "Missing Codecs" but the soundtrack usually comes through, not the picture.
