CHRIS - wmp expert where are you

I've been trying all day to down load one film (it must be easier than this)

my problem was originally that downloaded films not compatible with WMP(10) due to codecs or whatever they are called. Managed to sort it (ffdshow.exe) with advice from Chris L??????read on one of these threads.

NOW have a different problem ie WMP will play movie but screen is just black and there is no sound (downloaded 3 different versions of **** mp3 = porn!!! 2 x avi as above)

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND CHRIS (HE SEEMS TO HELP A LOT OF PEOPLE) OR HOW I CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

THANKS A MILLION

STEPH

No there is no easy way to download a complete film... usually it needs more than three days.

Of course if you tell me his nick! We don´t use private names on the public board and you shouldn´t either.

Thanks for the tip re real names - I only joined yesturday and didn't know!

Regarding the downloading of films taking 3 days I'm very confused. I joined the site so that I could download films and music from shared files on other computers. As far as I could see yesturday I downloaded this film - took about 15 mins if memory surves me right and it was 100% completed. I am on broadband which I know will make a difference but 3 days to 15 mins is a big difference.

I thought I just had a problem playing it. I really don't understand. your help would be much appreciated.

I am talking bout a complete film. The seize of a complete film is between 500 MB and 2Gb... what you downloaded is perhaps a preview or a part from an other film.

There might be different reasons. What does WMP say is there a error message? How long is this film and which format has it?

Perhaps you only need the right codecs:

http://www.codec-download.com/module...name=Downloads

Download and install the ACE codec pack it contains all common codecs. If this doesn´t work please answer my questions.

VLC (Free & with in-built codecs) plays most things except some odd highly 'licenced' wmv files. And hey at least VLC is honest about its downsides. M$ is not. You always find out after the fact. In some places you'd call that a connn.
