Burn

Thank you for the quickl response. If I save it as data will I still be able to play it as a video ?

If you save as data you burn the file as it is, so weither playing from a CD or from your Harddrive, should make no difference.

Burn

The movies don't fit on a cd or dvd. It says it don't fit !

Lord of the Rings December 18th, 2004 07:25 AM

Won't fit onto a dvd? lol :D How many are you trying to fit on? Are you sure you have a dvd burner or just a cd burner? CD burners can NOT burn dvd's!!! A standard dvd 5 format dvd can fit around 4.37 GB of files onto it. A cd will fit b/w 650-700 MB.

4.37 GB = 4,370 MB

So how large is this movie you dwnld via the gnutella network? (not from this site) Have you checked its size on your desktop? When you put it into your burner softw, what size does it say then? What type of disk are you putting into your dvd burner? Have a close look at it & does it say cd-r or dvd-r? I've never heard of anybody dwnlding a movie greater than 4.4 GB in size.

Burn

Thank you for your patience with me. I finally figured out how to burn the files on a cd. I can play it on my pc but not on my tv. I also can copy from a dvd or cd movies that I can play on my tv . I must be doing something wrong. I do have all the right equipment. (trust me). I don't have any trouble at all with music.
Thanks again
Tom:(

How do I burn a AVI format to DVD?. I have nero startsmart and everytime I try to burn a downloaded movie (AVI format), It tells me its not supported

Well if you guys wanna burn to DVD-5 [Standard] or DVD-9 [HD], private message me, and I'll hook you up with a really good system for burning DVD's.

But if it's discussed once more on the forum you're going to be in deep sh*t.

Hi if you want to copy a movie file to a DVD disc that will play in any DVD player
You need some conversion software because as far as I know most movies are DL in Mpeg format which DVD players wont play.
I use Convertx to dvd it converts avi, mpg, meg mp4 etc to a dvd file that will play on dvd players.
Secondly you need DVD-R or DVD+R discs the diff between -R and +R is like VHS and Betamax tapes. Check which format your player reads.
When choosing discs don't be tempted to go for the cheap ones I use Verbatim silver top DVD-R and have never heard of them not playing in any player. I got a cheap Tesco DVD player and it loves the discs.
I also burn all my discs at 4x as the output is a higher quality.
Hope this helps...

try burning the movie to a larger disc and make sure you are using the proper burner.

Lord of the Rings June 19th, 2008 03:23 AM

You will need to use a proper burner program, one that can convert & compress via quality settings. You didn't specify the avi size or/& length of the video. WMP is a very basic burner interface & abilities.
