I was having trouble with limewire so i deleted it using Add/Remove programs. I tried downloading and installing the new version, but after downloading it i have come to the setup phase but cannot go any further due to the following setup error:
"An older version of Limewire appears to be running. you must exit the old version before continuing with installation".
can u please help me.

lol The same thing happened to me today. Make sure the other program is out of the program tray, & also make sure all folders belonging to LW are removed from the tray. I restarted my windows before installing LW. I then restarted Windows after installing. I suspect the restart of Windows will kill any possible activity of LW that still existed, whether that be related to Java or whatever.

There is nothing running in the system tray. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't exit LW from the system tray before removing it from my computer. Could that have anything to do with it?

I have exactly the same problem but even restarting windows doesn't help. I have even deleted the TEMP dir contents but even that wasn't worthwhile. Can somebody plz help???

why dont you just go to control planel / add remove / and remove all the limewire versions that are on your computer, and then reinstall the latest version of limewire
