T1 and T3 or Higher

Hi, I'm new to this and I am just wondering what T1 and T3 or higher means? Would someone please let me know? Thank you.

From what I've been told, all it is is a different type of internet connection(ie. DSL, Cable, T1, etc.).:)

A Google search is always a good idea.

----------------------------------------------

"A dedicated phone connection supporting data rates of 1.544Mbits per second. A T-1 line actually consists of 24 individual channels, each of which supports 64Kbits per second. Each 64Kbit/second channel can be configured to carry voice or data traffic. Most telephone companies allow you to buy just some of these individual channels, known as fractional T-1 access.

T-1 lines are a popular leased line option for businesses connecting to the Internet and for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) connecting to the Internet backbone. The Internet backbone itself consists of faster T-3 connections.

T-1 lines are sometimes referred to as DS1 lines."

From http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/T_1_carrier.html

And this page looks quite good for information on all sorts of connections:

In theory the different connection types referred to in Limewire refer to speeds, from slow (modem) to very fast (T3). You will, by your own experience decide if this is in fact true:D

Thank you all for your help. So, I assume that I can use these ones to download from then?

You got it! Personally, I find that when downloading from T1's, the download speed is quite fast. I would choose a T1 first before downloading from any other connection.:)

It does not matter which you download from ... just do not expect T3 to be always fast and Modem always slow.

Also beware of Files generally from T1 or T3 sources, that appear in blocks of say 20 or higher as well as files of certain sizes which are referred to in some of the stickies I refer to below. These will have peculiar file sizes and often contain spam messages or worse viruses.

To familiarize yourself with some of the things you should be on the lookout for, check out the Stickies at the head of the forums list of posts, in this and some of the Limewire forums like Open and Upload/download problems.

Any thing else ....let us know.
