mommy would like her comp back

I recently downloaded some children programs to ocupy my son. Now he thinks the comp is his personal cartoon network. I would like to burn these file to a dvd......
and this is where I entered a whole new world.
what I do know: i have cable connection mainly i download in mpg form because it plays on media player ive tried avi but the real player only does audio. ive searched the forums and have heard someting about nero have nero start smart i tried to download nero vison express and quickly realized i dont have a clue so if any one knows a very very simple way to explain to me what program i need and and how to format or configure or what ever it is i need to do to them on dvd... i would greatly appreciate A friend recommened i have some one send it to me is this easier and safer? i have read many posts on this subject so i didnt have to thread again but as i mentioned. my intellegnce on this subject is weak. i need instructions thoroughly like go here click this.
again thank you for your time and possible help

You'd need the "full version" (not the light version) of Nero version 6 or 7, or Roxio easy cd/dvd creator, & these will do the job for you. Otherwise there's also TMPGEnc which is shareware/trialware. These are the easiest solutions I can think of for you.
(BTW for viewing on the computer, I would recommend VLC - (click on link) __ (choose nearest mirror site) which has in-built codecs & plays everything.)
