Opening ports

Can anyone tell me different ways to opening a port. I need to open port 2300, 2302, 2400, and 6073. I'm using a windows XP, I'm using windows firewall and a router. Can someone help me?
:)

* What brand & model of router do you have? That's the most important part to know. If we know that, then we can hopefully direct you.

For XP, it has it's own firewall. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

BTW which gnutella program are you using? (I ask because this forum caters for many gnutella p2p sharing programs.

Does virus scan count as a firewall and what's LW? I don't think my router has a brand on it. Mine is a motorola router. It's SB5100
SURFsurfboard cable modem.
