How do i make files smaller to fit cd-r?

hello

Ive searched the internet and this forum high and low for a solution. Maybe someone can help!

Well for some reason the file size of an avi i dwloaded has changed (posted a thread about this to no avail) and now wont fit on my cd-r's.

I figured that i could chop the beginning and the end off to try and fit it on a cd-r (although i suspect it still wont fit, but im determined to try everything!).

Can anybody tell me an easy way of making this file smaller by chopping the start and end??

thank you SO much for any help and advice :D

hi, thanks for your help guys!

downloaded divx and it confused me even more! its not hard tho!

anyway i stumbled upon another way of burning cd's with nero (nero burning rom actually, know idea why it took me so long to realise!) and hey it worked! yay!

its taken over a week but my hard work and long hours staring at the pc has paid off!

lord only knows why the files doubled in size using nero express and its quite possible il never find out! such is life :D
