License Requirement

I have read that LimeWire now needs a License in order to download or play songs. Which version of Limewire do I need to find and install that doe NOT have that requirement?

Has that License requirement "really" been implemented on Limewire yet?

How about Frostwire? Any one here tried it, or actually used it?

How about this Peer Guradian program. Anyone using it?

Thanks, TimP

That's right the license has been implemented. You'd have to go backwards in versions not to get that requirement. But older versions are no longer available.

I believe Peerguardian is very good; Organisations trying to connect via Port 6346

So which organisation do you work for? Downtown New York I guess ... let me guess.

What ???

Did you just change your response ? I linked to the message posts you initially gave me and started to read it, but clicked out, then when I went to your post again to click your link, it was gone.

If you don't want it posted, please PM the link to me again.

I'm in Baltimore actually.

Thanks.... TimP

Well ... it's actually in a Sticky in the LimeWire section. Let's say I got suspicious about the way you posted. lol :D And I'm surprised you're from Baltimore.

Oh... Sorry....

I just registered in the site about 20-30 minutes ago and don't know what a "normal" post looks like.

I can certainly understand everyone being paranoid about posters and question being asked after reading what the RIAA and others are doing on the web. Planting spyware, sniffers, virus' disguised as music files etc....

It is a huge cat and mouse game. I am upset about the very strong handed techniques being used by these large corporations who send out threatening letters and emails to 80 year old grandparents who don't even know how to turn on a cumputer, much less use it to download files.

I used to be a user of WinMx and was quite happy using it occasionally, but then it shut down and I've been looking for a replacement. So hence... my question about LimeWire / Frostwire.

Thanks for the response..... TimP
