how to save 3.mu files in my computer as file

Help, am trying to save files from my library to a folder for use in a video slide show as an audio file. I had only done it once prior, after many attempts and cant recall how I did it. Ive made repeated attempts but cant seem to save it as a usable file now that I can add to my soundtrack on pro show gold. Im able to access and apply my orignal saved files so I know its possible. I believe that before I somehow converted the files to mp3 or wav vs the 3.mu format. now when I click SAVE AS after highlighting a selection, the file description is blank. If I try to type it in and save it still doesnt save properly. Im a photographer not a PC guru so I need some help with this function. I would appreciate any tips that I can copy and save for future reference since I anticpate doing more of these slide shows and will need to access and save music to files for such use. Thanks!
