I don't think you'll get much better than Audacity as a free editing program. It can open & save into mp3 formats & ogg vorbis & WAV. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/windows.php BTW the manual, plug-in enabler for VST plug-ins, etc. are separate downlds so look carefully!

It allows you to record from external sources, to normalise, to apply FX such as noise reduction, etc.

I would suggest FlexiMusic Wave Editor. It is an audio and Mp3 editing software. You are free to use this for seven used days.

Good suggestion, but that sounds like trialware or shareware. It seems US$20 to buy. Audacity is open-source (like LW), is free & supports VST plug-ins, & Ogg Vorbis (I don't think it supports wma though.) Can also handle up to 96 KHz whereas FlexiMusic Wave Editor only up to 48 KHz (both dvd sample rates.) Audacity's slow compared to the pro audio editors, but it does the job.

using various range of Hz I have been working with Fleximusic Wave editor for editing. Hope this would render all your editing works with utmost quality. To add an information FlexiMusic wave Editor handles and support all formats from 1Khz to 200Khz. In this Non standard format can also be set using the command (FileMenu>Format>Other Hz).
