Problem with movie, file Expertise needed please

I recently downloaded a movie with the file name of
movienamedvdxrip(1).avi

When I use g-spot it says it is a zip file.
No player will play it.
I cannot convert it to dvd format beacause I always get an error message (file type not supported).

I have changed alot of .avi files to dvd but this one is a pain.
I ran a scancheck on it and it says noviruses found, and it is a complete file

digital video repair says "file type not supported"

It is 700 meg in size.

I would appreciate any help in this matter.
@lord of the rings thanks for the great programs you listed. They help alot with my working files.

Rename it movienamedvdxrip(1).zip and doubleclick on it.

It stills brings up media player and says "the file type or codec used to compress the file might not be supported"

Winzip will not touch it either. It says "index out of bounds"

I wish I could find out how the file was made then maybe I could find the program.

Maybe it's a fake file. Open it in notepad (no kidding) and see if there's
anything in there at all.

Nobody zips movies. Are you sure about its size? I'd think you misread and it's actually just about 700 kB large. In any case, unless you're a true masochist, just don't download any huge ZIP, RAR etc. files. You can't preview them and the chances you download packed garbage is pretty high. As said, nobody with a sane mind would pack a video file. I certainly don't claim everybody has a sane mind though.

Nope that's 700 plus 3 extra zeros @Hyper. It turned out to be a garbage file of compressed .dll's. Thanks for the help everyone, I do appreciate it.:)
