Angry files with .avi extensions not working in windows media player

hey i just downloaded some movies with avi extensions and they won't play in windows media player some one please tell me what program to use so i can play them and burn to dvd

WMP needs to have the appropriate codecs installed to play these files....
Alternatley you can choose to get the VLC player as the codecs are already installed....

i need similar information. i just did a download and instead of seeing the video i can only hear the audio. i need assistance on how to convert this to video

if you had taken the time to read the thread that WW linked to, then you would already have an answer...CODECS...I use the Klite codec pac with the ffdshow option disabled...
