Gnutella will not connect =/

Hello all! I need some help getting Gnutella to connect... I am a Linux user btw.. Well I installed this program called giFT which allows me to connect up to how many networks at once I want to do mass search and extra. Well I set up the port to 6346 to connect to Gnutella and it wont connect .... Ares, FastTrack and OpenFT all connect but not Gnutella ...... Is there another port I could use to connect to?
