Yep, you're right....I'm always forgetting about that point... ...glad that I don't have to deal with the French section and the Secam system, though not sure whether they still use it.....:wasntme:

The Super Converter converts the files quite fast and with VOB Compliant Nero doesn't bother anymore to encode the file, it burns it right away....

Well, I guess then you'll have to split the file using a program such as this one (it's free):
AviSplit (freeware)

Why would he have to split it? If the starting aspect ratio of the avi file is 2.35/16:9 (I think 2.35 is 16:9) and you use SUPER and choose 5:4 aspect would that cut off some of the image or just stretch it? When I go to burn the new file do I use Express 6 or Vision 3? If I use either one does it recode, the whole reason I want to use POWER is so I don't have to turn on burner and keep it on for one movie to take 2hrs to recode. Probably have more questions but I don't want to flood you. ty

I rather doubt that changing the aspect ratio of a movie file will have a significant effect, if any, on the file size.

Video files converted to VOB compliant will usually not be recoded by the burning program. At least, they aren't when I burn them....

help with burning file to play in a standard dvd player

I converted avi files to dvd and burned them....using nero 7.6.5 to a dvd+rw
but they won't play in my regular dvd. I also have super as well.

I'm new at this. why is that they won't play. it is a cheap dvd player no progressive scan. will I have to buy a new player?

I though by doing all this work I would just have to play the disk that was made into the player and it works. I understand there maybe problems but isn't this the correct concept?
