Problem - .avi files will not play with my DVD player
 

I am downloading movies from Limewire useing windows xp--I am downloading the movies useing AVI onto Maxell DVD-R blank discs-When I go to play the movies I can watch them on my PC but when I try to watch them on my TV useing a Panasonic DVD player they will not play--Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.

The .avi files that you are D/Ling are not 'playable' on a normal DVD player.

You may try to 'convert' them to DVD format using NERO and/or numerous other programs. A warning now - Attempting to convert from .avi to DVD can be VERY frustrating with many failures to enjoy !

Or, you can try to find movies in the DivX format... Many of the newer DVD players also support the DivX format.

I should have also included MPEG4 files as they will also play in many of the current design DVD players.
