Sound problem

Hello I have a sound problem, nothing major but very annoying ..

Crackles and pops and tried using WMP 11 and Real Player both are the same.

Any one had this problem??:bangh:

Even the voice that tells me YOU HAVE MAIL has got it!!

Hi Mag63

Your back:idea:

You know, if it was just your CDs you heard crackles and pops from I would say that they were recorded into the CDs you were playing. But as you hear crackles and pops in everything then your sound card has developed a fault, you have to replace it (they're cheap enough).

:super: and no water threats for you, been seeing it on the news??

British Weather

Hi Mags

No water threats for me 'coz I live in London and we have the flood barriers, so no problems here apart from the miserable summer.

Mind you, those people that have been flooded out tend to live besides rivers and/or in known floodplains. So there is no real surprise when in some years that "beautiful sparkling river" you bought your house next to becomes a huge torrant of dirty water, mud and debris.

But saying all that, the government has been promising better flood defences for years but still they did nothing, now the floods have damaged thousands of homes. I guess our government better get its act together or there will be a political backlash.

Hiya !

Hmmm... aside from a lotta crap about a country that has not created a single NEW reservoir since the 1930's ("Hose-pipe Ban" in England ??????? What, it no rain dere no more ?) and has don fug all to the Victorian perfect drainage system in over 100 years....

Well, anyway... the REAL problem re: sound for you...

I hope you have not already spent any money on a new card until you have done NUMEROUS Defragmentation Runs on your HDD !

You did not ever mention the details of your problem and exactly what type of music, i.e. CDA or mp3 or whatever, was giving you the probs !

If CDAs will play but not saved compressed files on your HDD, than it is quite likely that you need... I mean NEED... to defragment your Hard Disc Drive(s).

The application DISKEEPER beats anything I have ever seen or used... for years now !

Have I missed something here about your problem ? It's the comment about Voice Mail that throws me, but it could still be a defrag prob as that message may be on your HDD from the install of the prog and not necessarily something coming to you via your Internet link, hmmm ?

Anyway, you have to always be doing Defragmentation so no loss, right ?

luego

Hello Ursula

No haven't spent any money on a new card but I was looking at what brands and prices were available..

The problem was anything that came through the speakers had crackles + pops but no I didn't try a CDA (I will in a min).

Defrag Mmmm I normally use Diskkeeper Lite and only of recently have been using a 60 day trial of Vopt8, coincidence??

Well I just tried a CD and still the same:bangh: and the defrag..
When I receive emails I have a custom sound file tell me a new email has just came in, yes it's on my HHD..

Also your idea on the defrag was free to try...:xeri_ok1ani:

Thanks Mark..
