Can An .exe File Be Opened On A Mac If It Comes From A Source Saying It Is For Osxit

I'M A COMPUTER IDIOT.
THE FILES START OUT ZIPPED THEN I OPEN THEM AND AN .EXE FILE COMES OUT! AH!!!!! WHAT DOES THAT REQUIRE ME TO DO? I THOUGHT THAT WAS A PC THING. I JUST WANT TO DOWNLOAD MY STUFF AND HAVE IT WORK.

PLEASE HELP!
