i cant delete my files

i downloaded a couple of video files that all ended up being junk. every time i try to delete them it says that the file may be in use by another program please close down and try again. there is nothing running these programs i closed all uploads uploading these files and i even disconnected from limewire but they will not delete i would like to remove these fies because the were supposed to be kids movies for my children and ended up being porn. i do not want my children seeing this and have already complained to limewire about tags that are not really what is being typed in please help me. :bangh::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad2::mad2::mad2:

Hi and Welcome !

Not to unduly worry you but the files may be corrupted with either viruses or so-called spyware (dataminers to be correct).
Or, more 'innocently', a player or tagger or whatever may still be trying to 'access' the files.

Easiest first step is to Shutdown your computer.
Start again, but do it in Safe Mode.
To start in Safe Mode you must press F8 just after the BIOS load screen has finished its display.
If your BIOS start up display is disabled or hidden, don't worry... You may have to try this a few times before you get the 'timing' right !
On some machines if you hit F8 too early, you may get a Boot Order Selection screen... Don't change anything and just try again !
Whatever you do, if you do miss the 'timing', BE SURE to allow everything to load properly before doing another Shutdown.
Hey, don't feel bad if you miss it... Anyone who tells you they never have is a liar.
;)

When you are in Safe Mode, which takes a really long time to load (and Shutdown !), just do the normal with searching for the files and trying to delete them.
Your desktop icons may also be in different positions when you finally start again in 'Normal Mode', but don't panic. It's only because Safe Mode is 'safe' because it loads no drivers... well, no 'bad' ones, anyway, and your screen will be displayed in a much lower resolution than normal... No Big Deal !

If that doesn't help. try running the completely safe on-line scan available from
> Nod32 - Free Virus Scan: Use ESET's Online Antivirus Scanner

Let us know how it goes !
