xvid torrent problem

So I download a couple torrents XVID-topaz in the file name... One of them works perfectly... The other two are just folders with a bunch of files in them .nfo, .rar, .sfv .r00, .r01,etc

How do I use these videos? I downloaded the XVID codecs, VLC player, etc to see if I could fix the issue.

Do I need to download winrar to use this file? Don't want this to end up being something bad because it has a nfo file and could really screw alot of things up.

any suggestions?

Those files are normal, but always scan the entire torrent folder before playing or unraring it...You can do this by right clicking on the folder and select scan file...

The only difference between the different torrent folders are that some choose to rar their files and other's don't, they just place the entire file in as just the one...Sometimes you will see a 100 odd files...

You will need to install Winrar, you then place the torrent folder into it and it will create the movie file for you..You can choose to do this by using the wizard.....;)

This is a post I created some time ago, when I used Limewire for torrents, which I don't anymore, utorrent is much better...

You can leave the file it doesn't need to go back into the folder...

It's strange that VLC isn't giving out any audio on the file...Try installing one of these codec pacs and see how you go...

For XP this codec pac is very good
Download XP Codec Pack 2.0.8 - XP Codec Pack is one of the most complete codec pack

Or for Vista this pac
Vista Codec Package v4.6.4 (freeware)

the .nfo file is a scene release information file...it is not a system file as your computer will tell you...right click on it and choose open with notepad or wordpad (some look funky with either/or)....

once extracted from the 14.3 MB rar volumes (except for the last one which will have a size determined by the remainder of what is .rar'd up) the file is just that...a file...it can be moved anywhere you wish....

when you install a new codec pac make sure to use add/remove programs to uninstall whatever you currently have installed...

This is a pretty nifty tool for viewing .nfo files
