Can't type in text fields

Hi!

For several days I notice that I cannot type in text fields when using the internet. It works fine for a few minutes after starting the PC and then I cannot even move the cursor to the text field. I always have to shut down the PC completely and restart the system if I want to type in text fields again (for a few minutes).

About four months ago I installed an anti-virus program ("Stopzilla") and had not any problems so far.

Any tip would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Sibylle

Well Sibylle

It sounds like your browser has been got at and is possibly compromised, also Stopzilla is not an anti-virus software it's an anti-spyware. So, if all you have is Stopzilla then you must get yourself an anti-virus program.

As for your browser, which I am guessing is probably IE 7 or 8, I would suggest that you uninstall and delete all traces of it and clean out your registry. Then do a fresh (clean) reinstall.

If this does not work then uninstall it again but this time install another browser.

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I stumbled upon this discussion and found it very informative and useful for me. I'm also facing the same problem from past few weeks but I have installed firefox-3.0.19. So, if you can help me out or do I have to do the same thing as you have stated above, please tell. Many thanks in advance.:)

It would help if you provided a bit more info, like the symptoms you are experiencing and what you were doing when the symptoms appeared, have you added any apps to your PC recently, your PC specifications, O/S, RAM, HD size, protective apps, etc. And most of all, why have you got an out of date copy of Firefox when the latest version is 3.6.10?

You see, saying that you have the same problems as someone else does not help, especially as my answer to Sibylle was based on nothing more than an assumption (I.E 7 or 8 is the browser concerned) and a guess (the browser has been compromised).

So if you can provide some more info either I or another forum member will get back to you.
