Can't get any downloads completed

I am unable to d/l much more than 1 tune out of 10. Its always slow and I am begining to wonder if any one out there is actually sharing any music! Most d/l either never start, or start and after about 10-30 % the link goes dead. I have don't have any problems with kazza lite and I know &%$# well people are uploading files from me. What gives? Yeah, I know try the one that show the highest number available but it doesn't make any difference. I am running the latest version. I had hoped for better.

Hi there, I'm having the same problems , I'm using WIN XP, would this have anything to do with it? I can't get any files from the Gnutella network even using different programs. Kaaza is ok, but has not got all files I am looking.

tbrown3123 June 29th, 2002 01:36 AM

I am running XP and Win98SE and have the same problem on both.

99% Downloads

Only get 99% of movie files. Aggravating. Will find a better program!

Ironman July 2nd, 2002 04:55 AM

I have winXP and all my files download that I requsted so far after I upgraded to 1.20 . Never got the 99% hang up with 1.20 . Sounds like those who do might not have 1.20 installed. You might want to check to seee what version you have.

Me too

I have a broadband connection with Windows XP and I have a LOT more trouble uploading than I did on Kazaa. And I am running version 1.20.
I click on stuff but I never get it. (and yes, most of my search results have scores of 1.) I've left a download for a couple of days and it still never completes.

What's up? Is it Gnutella's network?

Ironman July 2nd, 2002 03:43 PM

I wil check thorugh my system to find out why I am having no problems with downloads using WinXP yet so many others are. I will then post it. I have never encountered any of these problems with WinXP and XoloX not working together. All of my downloads complete and with in a reasonable time. Maybe it is something that I have set or not set that others need to follow to get it to work for them. I honestly do not belive that I got some superior quality version of 1.20 from download.com . I'll see what is allowing me to have no problems and report back to all XP users on it.:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

i am using windows me and i am having no such problems.....maybe it's an xp thing

cHEssHire July 4th, 2002 10:43 PM

no problems here

i run xolox on win98 SE, and havent had one bug report in the new version 1.2 (obtained from download.com) Also, all of my searches with more than 3 hits have downloaded w/o a hitch.

with the new xolox still approaching puberty im sure still has some bugs to work out, but in patience and solidarity, one can find the gold at the end of his or her respective rainbow.

Running as fast as they can...

Iron Man lives again.

Thanks to you and cHEssHire for your responses.
Even though you are both no doubt blessed by the p2p gods who have passed me by.

No spyware...I guess I shouldn't oughtta complain?

Ironman July 5th, 2002 10:31 PM

I have ran it with every set up except firewalls and I have not experianced any problems with XoloX and WinXP. I would suggest that you check security settings and such. They might be set too high. If that is not the case then check you modem and connection. If you are using a router then this could be the problem. Routers tend to block p2p filesharing sometimes. If all of this checks out then I have no clue what to tell you other than I must have gotten a special version of 1.20.

I have a similiar system to the one described by Iron Man and it works fine for me. I've bee using XoloX for 2 weeks and have 1.2 version etc. but for me I noticed the reson why downloads may be slow is because of time zone, I'm 8 hours ahead of GMT and have noticed that I get more downloads when I log on at certain times such that I catch more users who may be online at night. I think as the Xolox user base continues to grow this will cease to be a problem. I have also noticed the mp3's I'm trying to download usually are low hits because the music I'm looking for is less mainstream so I usually must wait longer until I that user comes online before I get it. I also find that setting my upload speed to the max is better because it allow people to dowload the music from me quicker thus allowing the file to be used and passed on by more members.

Just thought I would share my humble experience and thoughts so far with other users thus far.

This program stinks.. I had such high hopes... the reviews were great, no spyware etc, and gnutella-based too; it all sounded so good, and yes it was... too good to be true!

I haven't been able to d/load anything of any merit for the last 3-4 days. Very disappointing!

So I'm going to switch to Groxter or KaZaA-Lite... anything has got to be better than this slow death of an excuse for a file-sharing program.

There was a bug in the program, did you update to the newest version?

File Corruption

I have been using xolox for a few days and have been able to find most of what I want. Sometimes it crashes but I haven't lost partial downloads. The problem I am having is that video files have started playing black screen with audio in Windows Media Player. At first I thought these files were bad. Some of these files will open in different players, but the same thing has occurred with other files that were fine previous to using xolox, which makes me think something has corrupted somewhere. Does anyone have an idea on how to be able to play these files correctly? I have reinstalled WIndows Media Player and the latest divx codec. Thanks for any help.
