Some comments on XoloX, by a heavy user
 

-XoloX gives me better download speeds, than for example Gnotella, which I mostly use. This came as a bit of a surprise. I like it, since I use DSL. I keep seeing a lot of speeds up to 15-20Kbps with XoloX, when I normally see with other ptop-clients speeds of 4-10Kbps. The ability to download the same file from numerous servers is clearly the key to fast downloads.
-XoloX seems to be pretty reliable; it doesn't crash down much, which is a must if a ptop client wishes to become popular.
-I don't like XoloX's colors: using red as font color is just distastefull, please change it to some more neutral, like blue, black, dark grey, so it looks more professional and doesn't annoy the user.
-I found out, that if my hard disk-space gets full, XoloX simply announces: memory error, or something like that, and interrupts all downloads - I had to restart XoloX to resume them again. XoloX should automatically resume those downloads, as more hard disk-space is available.
-I have to give credit for the easy installing of XoloX - it went really fast, and didn't ask me to install all kinds of addware I really don't want to use anyway.
-The idea, that "the more and faster you upload, the more and faster you can download", is in practise great.

Actually I found out that the less you share the better the download rates are. We only got async DSL (128Kbit up/768KBit down) and 4 uploads block the line so much that download speeds go down. I had to drop some of the more searched material and to limit upload bandwidth to be able to download at a proper speed again. Actually I think that sucks. I like sharing and do with tools like Gnucleus and WinMX but it's not possible with Xolox. Both also find more downloads are seem to find the fast servers. Maybe Xolox should be a bit more configurable and tell us a bit more about it's operations. I like the automatic search and download features very much but this tools needs quit a lot work on the uploads.
