Percentage left increases I am confused sometimes by the observation of my last download (still in progress). The percentage left of my download changed a few times. It went from 99% complete to 66% complete. Then it went from 97% back to 66%. This seems odd to me. I understand if the estimated time left changes.. but this does not make sense to me. Coincidentally I noticed that other users were downloading this file (from me) that I was attempting to download from others, even though I had not completed the download yet. I am starting to wonder if this is a method for the Xolox network to keep a download in progress longer to enable others to download from you. This is a theory that I do agree with. I prefer that others keep recently downloaded files available for others. However I would have appreciated it if Zolox would have released information regarding this type of built in protocol. |
Read this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&threadid=5476 It’s not a tactic to make you share, it is just an over active safeguard to prevent you from getting a corrupted copy of the file you are downloading. Xolox lets other users download the “partial” you already have, so that you both don’t have to compete for a slot with the primary file holder. When download a popular file, some of the data you download, is likely coming from someone who is still in the process of downloading it themselves. (E-Donkey does this too.) |
