I presume you are trying to move the LW application from your old computer to your new Vista PC, well there is no easy way to do this.

You will be better off, and its a lot easier, downloading the LW.exe file directly from Lime Wire » Download LimeWire directly to your Vista PC.

As for your "Saved" and "Incomplete" folders on your old PC, burn them onto some CDs or a DVD then copy the files to your new "Saved" and "Incomplete" folders on your new PC.

Nuff said.

Hi: Mary Leah here in NYC.
I have not downloaded in a while and today I searched and found the song.I wanted and proceeded...but I then get this message that I have to take a survey?
I was shocked at all the info I had to input and was forced to sign up for products that I totally disliked. I stopped doing this...What ever happened to free music from Limewire.Have you changed...Please advise. Thank you. Mary Leah

Hi Mary

You probably access one of the many bogus files on the gnutella network, never ever fill anything you found on the network its just too dangerous, i.e. giving your details to criminals.

Just remember, the gnutella network is not a controlled environment instead it is filled with hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of individual PCs and you just don't know what is in their owners minds.

no longer free music?

Hello UK Bob:
Thank you for your note. Forewarned is welcome.
Although I gave false info...they do not have my address nor phone.
But can you answer the question.
Why can't I download a song without getting this message about taking surveys?
Has limewire changed? Is it no longer free.
This is the first time I am unable to download since I became a user.
Thanks for you advice.

Hi again MaryLeah

Sorry I did not answer your question directly first time.

OK, you asked:

As far as I am aware, music, film or any other files do not ask you to fill in a survey. In fact, no one else in this forum has complained of or come across this before. I can only presume that your PC has been infected with with some sort of spyware. Therefore, I would suggest that you run Spybot (or some other anti-spyware app) to check and clean your HD.

You have also asked:

Limewire Basic is still free and apart from the necessary upgrades and updates it still has the same primary functions.

Check out the following URLs

Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

Lime Wire » Features History

I say the above as a LimeWire Pro users since May 2004 (LW Pro V4.0.5) and I am now using LW Pro V4.14.10.

Hope this helps.

Hi UK BOB: Well I ran adaware and Norton Scan. Still did not help. When I attempted to download the song again...Mozilla Firefox takes over and tells me I have to install this" Play mp3 exe",
So I am giving up .Thanks for your help. Mary Leah
